Quick Breakfast Options

You know those days, and I do too. You got out of bed half an hour too late, and really do not feel like eating breakfast. Although I personally do not believe that breakfast needs to be a big, filling meal, something light and easy is the way to go when you are in a hurry.
1 - Dried fruits. Munch on some organic raisins or whatever you like. Dried fruits are nutritious, tasty, and will keep you satisfied until lunchtime.
2 - Granola bars. Watch out with these, they are not as healthy as they seem. Just look at the ingredients and you will see the high amounts of sugar, and sometimes there is even trans fats hidden in granola bars! Don't ever come near trans fats. My personal favorite granola bars are Kashi Chewy Bars, Gnu Foods Flavor, and Fiber bars (stay away from FiberOne & Special K bars though, loads of sugar and saturated fat).
3- Banana or apples. Easy to take with you, very rich in taste, vitamins & minerals, and will keep you satisfied.
4 - Tea. If you can, fill a portable coffee mug with hot water and drop in an organic herb tea. It will do wonders for your focus in class, and in general the feeling of a hot substance entering your body tends to wake you up a little more.
Good luck, and make sure not to skip breakfast often!

Welcome!

Hey everyone and welcome to my other blog: Teen Health.
This is not so much a personal blog; here I focus on our generation, our eating habits, exercising habits, and how to improve them. I'm not going to lie: our generation is eating the most junk foods and processed foods of any generation on earth. Obesity is a worldwide problem, and so is diabetes. I have read several books lately, including Skinny Bitch and TurboCharged which I will review for you, that focus on a leaner, healthier lifestyle.

I want to encourage people my age not to grab the cupcake, but the cucumber (clever sentence yay).

When I see people at my school eating three 500 calorie muffins a day it makes me want to cry (seriously). When I see people eating piles of fries for lunch, I wish I had Jamie Oliver's phone number and he could come and save us, like he's been trying to do.

It's not so much about being skinny (because I am not super skinny at all), but it is about being healthy. Taking care of yourself. And I truly hope I can inspire more of you.

On this blog I will post recipes, book reviews, articles on health, and lots more to keep you updated on how to improve your health.
